Identification #

Hypogymnia tubulosa is a tube lichen with soredia on the tips of its lobes. It does not develop isidia and only rarely will apothecia be seen. H. physcodes also has soredia at the lobe tips and is similarly colored but ha lobes which are flatter and not so long as in H. tubulosa.
