Pseudocyphellaria hawaiiensis #

Taxon #
Pseudocyphellaria hawaiiensis
Organization #
Specklebelly Lichens, Peltigerales
Identification #
Pseudocyphellaria hawaiiensis is similar in appearance to P. citrina but can be separated by where the soralia dominate and by the medulla color. In P. hawaiiensis the soralia are more abundant along the lobe margins, sparse laminally, while P. citrina is the opposite, with soralia more abundant laminally with relatively fewer along the margins. P. hawaiiensis has a medulla which is patchily yellowed while the medulla of P. citrina is white (Miadlikowska et al. 2022, Lücking et al. 2017).
