Identification #

This species is known as the “Black Saddle Pelt Lichen” and is one of only a few Peltigera species with very dark apothecia, which are convex in such a way to appear as small black saddles. P. collina can similarly have very dark apothecia but will also have soredia along the lobe margins which are not seen in P. neckeri.
