Identification #
Peltigera canina is among the species with a tomentose upper surface. The lobes of P. canina are not so narrow or upturned as in P. rufescens. The thallus can be grayish or brownish, but the conspicuous white, marginal tomentum helps to recognize it. The rhizines are tufted at least at the tips. Simple or rope-like rhizines belong to other species (Brodo et al. 2001).
