Identification #

Allocetraria madreporiformis is a fruticose lichen which somewhat resembles the Dactylina species but more branched in dichotomies. Thalli greenish yellow, can vary from near cylindrical to a flattened form; rugose surface. Brown apothecia are produced very rarely but the species lacks soredia and isidia (Brodo et al. 2001, CLH).

Notes #

Known north to the Brooks Range, west including the Aleutian and St. Paul Islands, south to the Alaska Range on the mainland. No collections or records from SE Alaska (CLH, Spribille et al. 2023).
