Identification #
This Cladonia species is usually abundantly branched and can appear similar to C. furcata. C. scabriuscula, however, is sorediate while C. furcata is esorediate (Brodo et al. 2001). C. scabriuscula can have specimens with or without abundant squamules. Those which are abundantly squamulose might be mistaken for C. squamosa, but that species also lacks soredia.
