Identification #
The combination of more elongated, trumpet shaped podetia with farinose soredia, sorediate primary squamules, and subglobose cups are often enough to recognize this species in situ. It rarely produces apothecia which are brown when present.

Most often terricolous or lignicolous, also commonly bryocolous or corticolous on the trunks of trees.

Notes #
Ubiquitous in Alaska’s temperate and boreal forests. A shade-loving species.
